Maria Y. Schmidt of Seguin passed away Wednesday at the age of 49. Visitation begins Friday at noon. A Rosary will be recited Friday at 5:30 p.m. The funeral mass will be held 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment will follow in the Eden Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Palmer Funeral Home. (I am going to leave survivors off). Her father Enrique Calvillo preceded her in death.
One of Mary's last requests was that friends and family who will attend her funeral service wear casual clothes—"NO TIES THAT CHOKE; NO HIGH HEELS THAT HURT!"

He served his country in the United States Air Force....He retired in San Antonio, Texas from Randolph Air Force Base....He was preceded in death by his sister Mary Calvill Schmidt and father Enrique Calvillo.

Martha Sue Grootonk was born on June 9, 1956, in San Diego, California, the daughter of James Elroy Warren and Kathy Ann Kallenback Warren. She departed this life on December 14, 2010, at her home near Sturkie, Arkansas, at the age of 54 years, 6 months and 5 days.
Martha worked as a caregiver in a disabled children's home and she was of the Baptist faith.
She leaves to mourn her passing: mother, Kathy Ann Warren of Sturkie, Arkansas; four brothers, Ralph Berry Warren of Peoria, Arizona, James Edward Warren of Denver, Colorado, Steven J. Warren of Salem, Arkansas, and Rickey Allen Grootonk of Sturkie, Arkansas, seven sisters, Debra Yaney of Olympia, Washington, Teresa Grootonk of Seattle, Washington, Melonie Priestly of Peoria, Arizona, Marie Grootonk of San Diego, Californaia, Regina Grootonk of Escondido, California, Barbara Warren of Susan City, California, and Darlene Grootonk of Ketchakan, Alaska; several nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her father.

William V., 65, passed away Friday Aug. 25, 1995 due to chemotherapy complications. A San Diego native, he was a decorated Master Sergeant who served in the Korean War, after which he spent his life in the construction industry including acting as Congregational District Delegate in the 1992 Democratic National Convention. Until Bill's retirement in 1993 he served as a special representative for the Southern California District Council of Carpenters Local +1506. He is survived by his loving wife Cindy, 5 children Bill of Leucadia, Naydyne Hinkle of Escondido, Diana Grootonk of Huntington Beach, Lynette Hulsey of Chula Vista, and Dawn Nicholas of San Diego, 8 grandchildren, 2 brothers and 2 sisters. The family deeply extends their warmest appreciation and thanks to all of Bill's long time friends. Memorial Service will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday Aug. 29th at El Cajon Mortuary, 684 South Mollison, El Cajon. In lieu of flowers donations accepted at Valle de Oro Bank, c/o the William V. Grootonk Memorial Fund.

Mario Luis Perez Calvillo, 73, of Hacienda Heights, CA died on Thursday, July 21, 2005. He was born in Uruapan, Michoacan, Mexico. Son of Roberto Perez and Maria Luisa Calvillo Tapia.
Survivors include his wife, Rebecca Elia, daughters, Laura Guadalupe of Palestine, TX, Lilia Patricia of Pomona, CA, Diana of San Bernardino, CA, and Sara of Virginia Beach, VA, 20 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Luz Esperanza Grotoonk-Calvillo
Luz Esperanza "Lucy" Calvillo went to heaven to be with our Lord on January 25th, 2020.
She was born to William V. and Ygnacia (Aza) Grootonk on April 29th, 1934 in San Diego, San Diego County, California.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Enrique V. Calvillo of 48 years, daughter Maria Y. Calvillo - Schmidt (Chris), son Guellermo Enrique "William or Bill" Calvillo and step son Enrique Vicente Leal Calvillo. She is also preceded in death by her brothers William V. "Bill" and Rudolph A. "Rudy" Grootonk, sisters Matilda Eliza "Tillie" (she died in the 1937 street car accident), Gloria M. Torres and Rose M. "Rosie" Snider.
Lucy is survived by her children, Beatriz E (Joe) Nieto of Texas, Cynthia E (Rodney) Fretwell of California, Rafael and Guadalupe (Peguero) of California and Anna M. Calvillo with friend Sandy Breneman of Pennsylvania and step daughter Carmen Leal Calvillo of Mexico. Along with 11 grandchildren, 21 and one on the way great grandchildren and one great great grandson.
